The Merely Players are approached by a servant of a nearby local lord - Baron Robbert Usher. Lord Robbert is keen to have the party to investigate the strange goings on at his manor house. The Rosanti matron, a mysterious woman by the name of Domna Patrina Ducdamé, rewards the heroes for their kindness by hosting them in her camp that evening. While enjoying the Rosanti hospitality, the Merely Players are invited to participate in an unusual game, which pits comrade versus comrade in a battle royale!

Their trail leads them to the Greenfriairs Theatre where they execute an intricate plan to catch their prime suspect - the theatre's patron, the powerful Baroness Lena Underwell - during the performance. Before all is said and done, a figure from Hulmes' past slinks from the shadows to thwart the party's investigation.

They approach Lord Henry Bollingbroke himself in an attempt to protect him and his family from the vengeful cult of the dark god Izurin.
